Hof Ten Brande (Castle Den Brandt) is known as an incredibly attractive place for residents in the area, but for many tourists also. Its extensive park provides a great opportunity for recreation on weekends and delight the senses of visitors.

The history of the mansion can be traced back to the late 14th century, that is more than 500 years. First records of "Hof Ten Brande" in property registers were was found in the archives from 1396. Later, in 1558, is established a notary deed for buying-sale in which is described in details the adjacent property as a farm, private summer residential building for the owners, the land of the mansion and forests. The deal was accomplished with a Spanish merchant named Sancho de Villamonte, who buys "Hof Ten Brande" and later the castle and estate remained in the ownership of his son Pasquier de Villamonte, married to Sara s'Kempenaeren. A letter from April 14, 1564 states that Pasquier de Villamonte concludes a good deal and sells the estate "Hof Ten Brande" of the financier from Antwerp Cornelis van Laer and his wife Anna Musch, whose owner after their death becomes their son Cornelis van Laer de Jonge.

Much later, in 1790, Charles-Antoine della Faille de Waerloos built today's castle, and renovated in 1870 in a late-classical style, making a number of improvements and extensions of the main castle and ancillary buildings for staff, workers on the farm, so also conservatory. Almost two and half centuries, the beautiful castle built in 1790, belonged to the family della Faille de Waerloos. In 1910, family Kreglinger buys the castle. Its large park with a French garden in front of the castle and a large park in the English style behind the castle are complemented by charming lakes and canals that cross the estate in several places connected by picturesque bridges. In the middle of the French garden in front of the castle, from the side of the main entrance to the street Beukenlaan, in a small fountain is installed the sculpture "The Dancing Nymphs" (The Three Graces) by the German sculptor Walter Schott (1861-1938). When Kreglinger family becomes owner of the castle, specially for the beautiful park, they buy the sculptural composition of the three graceful nymphs from the collection of World Exhibition in Brussels, in 1910.

After the death of the last heir of Kreglinger family, in 1962, the castle became the property of the city of Antwerp and opens doors to the public in 1964. The castle and the beautiful park surrounding it, becomes one of the favorite places for public gatherings and festivals, providing amazingly beautiful natural scenery for private and public events, seminars, conferences, international business and cultural encounters. Here, in the English part of the park, already takes place and the world famous annual music festival "Jazz Middelheim", created in 1969. The lovers of floral art can immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Feast of Flowers "Fleurs des Dames."
